STATE APPROVES CERTIFICATE OF NEED

After an appeal to NC Dept. of Health & Human Services by the Hospice House Foundation and Four Seasons, the Agency has found that the Proposed Project for a Hospice House conforms with all relevant statutory review criteria and has approved the Certificate of Need application to build the hospice facility in a way that ensures those in Western North Carolina who need any kind of hospice care (home based and facility based) will get it.

The Hospice House Foundation of WNC, Inc. Macon County is proud to announce their partnership with Four Seasons Hospice of Henderson County, NC. The mission of the Hospice House Foundation of WNC, Inc. is to provide an inpatient facility for hospice patients for end of life care, and to support our hospice patients and families in our community. The non-profit, private foundation was formed by a group of local hospice volunteers, doctors and community members who saw the need as a result of their various experiences with loved ones and patients.

HOSPICE HOUSE FOUNDATION GRANTED PETITION FOR HOSPICE BEDS

The Hospice House Foundation of WNC, Inc. has scored a strategic victory toward making a hospice house facility a reality for our community and all of Western North Carolina. On Friday, September 25th, 2009, the State Medical Facilities Planning Commission unanimously voted to grant the Foundation’s Petition for six hospice inpatient beds for Macon County. This paves the way for the Foundation to apply for a Certificate of Need, and to move forward with its capital campaign in order to raise the funds needed to provide a twelve bed inpatient/residential hospice house facility.

Lillian Beckhans becomes an angel for other Macon, Swain, and Jackson residents when she made her recent gift to the Hospice House Foundation of WNC, Inc. to build a Hospice House in Franklin, NC. She gifted to the Hospice House Foundation of WNC because she wants Hospice caregivers to be able to help the dignity of many clients as they are living their last moments in a pleasant, comfortable and safe environment.
